Culture & customs
At sunset, devotees stand waist-deep in the water and offer fruit, sugarcane and thekuwa (sweet fried biscuits) to the setting sun on bamboo trays. Songs are sung on the riverbanks.
The fast ends the next morning at dawn with the offering to the rising sun.
