Culture & customs
Before Tihar, houses get a fresh coat of red clay and cow dung, a traditional cleaning and blessing. Laxmi is believed to visit only clean houses.
Marigolds come in from the countryside by the truckload. They’ll be strung over every door and gate for the next week.
