- EveningLaxmi Puja. Walk through Asan and Indra Chowk when the lamps are lit.
- NightGroups of Bhailo singers go from door to door.
Culture & customs
In the morning dogs, the guardians of Yama’s gate, are given a red tika, a garland and a good meal. Even the street dogs are fed.
In the evening, Laxmi, the goddess of wealth, is worshipped. Houses are lit with oil lamps, candles and fairy lights, and a trail of Laxmi’s painted footprints or a rangoli leads from the door to the puja room. Fireworks go off everywhere.
