  2. AfternoonWalk from Thamel to the Bishnumati river and look at the ghats.
  3. EveningStop at a tea shop and try chiya (milk tea) with locals.

Culture & customs

Saturday is Nepal’s one-day weekend. Offices close, families go out, and temples and parks are full.

Chiya, sweet spiced milk tea, is the national drink and the reason to stop and chat. Accept a cup when it’s offered.
