Culture & customs
The lunar calendar doubles a day this year, so there is no separate Dashain ritual today. It’s a good day to look up. Flying kites (changa) is the sport of Dashain, and it’s said to tell the gods to stop the rain. People fight kites from the rooftops, and when you cut a rival’s string you shout “Changa chet!”
Swinging on a linge ping is said to lift you off the ground at least once a year.
