  2. MiddayVisit the Kumari Ghar courtyard. The Kumari sometimes appears at her window.
  3. EveningWatch the sunset from the steps of the Maju Dega temple in the square.

Culture & customs

The Kumari is a young girl from the Newar Shakya caste who is worshipped as a living form of the goddess Taleju until she reaches puberty. She rarely leaves her house, and her feet don’t touch the ground outside it.

During Dashain, many families come to see her and receive a blessing.
